David had been in a dead-end sales job for several years, in a good year earning no more than $25,000 in commissions. His talents were barely tapped at any of his positions, but he was content to stay put for no other reason than security. Growing more discontented by the day, he watched his friends move forward in their careers. David was referred to Career Directions, LLC. We guided David in realizing the full complement of his skills, talents and accomplishments showcased on his new resume then created and coached him to implement a winning marketing plan, including enhancing his interviewing and salary negotiation skills.

The results: Within 2 months, David was offered a 6-figure sales territory management position! Way to go, David!

Paul had been out of work for over a year and a half , trying to start his own consulting business, but his heart wasn't in it. In fact, he had been terminated by his past three employers. Discontented with his career in urban planning, he chose his profession by default and after 15 years, he couldn't take it another day. Following his referral to Career Directions, LLC, we assisted Paul in identifying his true career passion. He decided to parlay his skills to a position as an Association Executive in a field that was near and dear to his heart music. He even zeroed in on an association he wanted to lead. Fortunately, the organization had just the top post he wanted.

The results: In just three months, we crafted a functional resume that translated his relevant skills and positioned him for a new career. We coached him on how to open the door to an interview, where he delivered such a powerful presentation that he was recommended to the board as the #1 candidate. Yes, Paul landed the position. At long last, Paul has his dream career!

Melinda was employed as a sales manager with a family-owned business in a declining industry. She was more than ready to make a change and also to change industries specifically, to the health care industry. However, Melinda's resume was not much better than name, rank and serial number, and she was far from prepared to launch an effective search. Our resume and marketing letters for Melinda emphasized her outstanding track record. Then, we equipped her with winning strategies for finding appropriate job leads and landing the offer.

The results: In less than two months, Melinda was offered a position directing an international sales and marketing organization for an industry leader in health care at a $50,000 increase in compensation.

Gail transitioned her career from Manager of a specialty shopping center to Sales Manager of an exclusive condo project. We coached Gail in transferring her managing and marketing skills developed in her last position to a former real estate career, but at a much higher level.

The results: She also successfully countered the company's initial offer with a written proposal to upgrade her responsibilities, the title and base salary.

Scott moved from Product Manager in the beverage industry to Product Manager in the packaged food industry. Scott questioned whether marketing was a good choice for him. Through our process, he determined his environment was wrong but that marketing was an ideal career. He tested the marketplace by exploring a variety of different positions, environments and industries. One option gave him the opportunity to be an in-house marketing consultant, but the position he ultimately took allowed him to initiate the product management function for his new company.

The results: Scott discovered that he was not interested in the traditional corporate ladder and that marketing would give him the opportunity to play out a long-term goal of owning his own business.

Karyn moved from Human Resources Manager for a public utility to Director of Market Development and Client Relations for a management consulting firm. She was unhappy in her career situation and had experience in many variations of the personnel function. She also previously held a sales position with a leading computer company. With our coaching, she learned that her outgoing personality and interpersonal skills were better suited to a market and client relations position than the HR function.

The results: In just a few months, Karyn landed and successfully negotiated the responsibilities and compensation package for an exciting new career path.

Stan realized his dream and advanced from Vice President of a medium-size manufacturing company to CEO of the corporate parent company. Stan was thinking of leaving the company because the job was not tapping his skills and interests, and the company was too small to allow mobility and job enhancement. Despite a high-level job title and income, the position was still very dissatisfying. Our coaching process enabled him to identify what factors were missing and what he needed for career satisfaction.

The results: When a large parent corporation was formed and two other businesses were acquired, Stan had the opportunity to expand his job in the parent company and mold it to his preferred skills, working style and interests.
